Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What are "printable sizes?"
A: Printable sizes are the dimensions of the "canvas" or image you want to be printed. Those sizes are: 4x6 • 5x5 • 5x7 • 8x8 • 8x10 • 8x12 • 11x14 • 12x18 • 16x20. If you have an abnormally sized image you want printed, see Mrs. L and she will help you!

Q: What is RGB v CMYK?
A: RGB (Red, Green, Blue) is a color mode for art that will primarily be viewed on a screen. CMYK (Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, Black) is a color mode for art that will be printed.

Q: What is dpi? What does it mean if something is 72 dpi?
A: Dots Per Inch (dpi) is the resolution of your work. If you only have 10 dots (pixels) per inch, your piece will be very blurry. If you have 300 dpi (the highest resolution) your work will be very clear and crisp. All work on the Internet used to be in 72 dpi, but with  technology advanced many people now use either 150 dpi or 300 dpi.

Q: How do I turn a .Ps file into a JPEG (or PNG)?
A: Open your file in PhotoShop. File > Save As > Format = JPEG (Don't forget to change the name and make sure it saves to the right location!)

Q: How do I turn a .Ai file into a JPEG (or PNG)?
A: Open your file in Illustrator. File > Export > Formate = JPEG > Use Artboards > Range = 1 > High Image Quality > 150-300 dpi.
